Engineering Technician Lead

The Registered Engineer positions are responsible for managing and engineering multiple projects related to improvements to the water and/or wastewater systems. These positions are responsible for professional engineering activities involving the planning, analysis, design, development, construction, renovation, maintenance or operation of utilities, assets and related projects. KC Water is undertaking a significant capital improvements program with a considerable volume of work. Professional engineers with experience and interest in becoming part of a larger infrastructure engineering team are needed. Work involves activities such as analyzing infrastructure systems, overseeing planning activities, and managing engineering projects including development of construction and/or rehabilitation projects associated with water, wastewater or facility assets. Frequent consultation with internal divisions, consultants, contractors, and others is required in the analysis, design, review of plans/specification, and inspection of construction work for compliance with prescribed engineering criteria. Assignments are received in conference with a professional superior. Employees of this class are expected to exercise good judgment to resolve technical problems, manage projects, and provide data for asset risk assessment criteria. Responsible for Quality Assurance and Quality Control of contracts, construction plans, materials, and studies for adherence to Water Services rules and regulations. As a Registered Engineer you will be expected to manage multiple projects at the same time and in different stages of development from planning, budgeting and conceptual stages to construction, asset management and final close out. Smart Sewer Utility Manager

The Smart Sewer Utility Officer will participate with the executive management team to plan business objectives, develop policies, coordinate functions and operations between Smart Sewer Team and subcontractors and establish responsibilities and procedures for attaining objectives. Leads and coordinates project teams including: engineers, project managers, contractors, City Departments and other stakeholders for collaborations, site management and date management. Oversees the Green Infrastructure Concept design and implementation.

REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor’s degree with major course work in civil engineering with a minimum of 10 years of experience. Must be a professional engineer registered with the state of Missouri within six months of hire date. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen as prescribed by the City. Preference given to applicants with experience managing multiyear federally funded programs, as well as working with the Environmental Protection Agency.
