(Kansas City, Mo.) – Kansas City Water Services regretfully announces the loss of a valued Water Services employee, Donald Fenton, who was fatally injured while working on a sewer line repair near 9701 Marion Parkway on July 22. Mr. Fenton, a Wastewater Maintenance Division Utility Repair Supervisor, was working as part of a five man crew when the fatal accident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. Initial reports indicate that a plug inside the upstream pipe gave way, releasing water into the manhole where Mr. Fenton was working. Water Services is conducting a thorough investigation of the incident. An incident report is anticipated to be completed in the coming weeks.
“Each of our more than 800 employees is dedicated to providing the highest quality water, wastewater, and stormwater services for our customers,” said Terry Leeds, Water Services Director. “The work they do each day is difficult and sometimes dangerous. It is with sincere appreciation and respect that we mourn the loss of this dedicated associate.”
