(Kansas City, Mo.) – 2017 was a record breaking year for KC Water’s Household Hazardous Waste program. Customers dropped off 1.6 million pounds of products such as cleaners, light bulbs, fuels, and batteries. That’s an 11% increase over 2016.
More than 10,000 local households used the free facility to safely dispose of anti-freeze, paint, and used oil. Nearly 3,000 households took advantage of eleven mobile events held during the year.
The facility, located at 4707 Deramus Avenue, accepts drop-offs free of charge every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Those items include:
- automotive products
- batteries
- fertilizers
- fuels
- hazardous liquids
- lawn and garden products
- pesticides
- pool chemicals
- solvents
- thinners
- used oils
- anti-freeze
- paint
- CFL light bulbs
- flammables
- hazardous cleaners
- household cleaners
- photographic chemicals
