KC Water Wraps Up Valve Work But Some Traffic Restrictions Remain

Posted on September 30, 2018

(Kansas City, Mo.) – Necessary maintenance work on a 20” water main will wrap up Sunday evening, however some lane restrictions will remain in place.

Traffic at Front Street at N. Topping Avenue, Front Street at N. Jackson, and N. Monroe and Gardner Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction as crews complete the project. Lanes are expected to reopen Tuesday, October 2nd.

These restrictions allowed workers to replace critical valves on a 20” transmission main that runs along Front Street. That work began Friday evening and will be substantially complete later tonight.

This valve work is part of the ongoing large valve replacement program. There are more than 35,000 valves across Kansas City and they control the water that’s flowing through the more than 2,800 miles of underground water mains. This work is another example of KC Water’s continuing commitment to improve the infrastructure of Kansas City.
