KC Water Receives Certificate of Achievement for Financial Excellence

Posted on March 1, 2018

(Kansas City, Mo.) – The Government Finance Officers Association recently awarded KC Water the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). This is the first time KC Water has received this distinction.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. Attaining this level of recognition represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

“The Finance and Accounting Division at KC Water strives to be fiscally responsible and financially transparent,” said KC Water Chief Financial Officer Sean Hennessy. “We put a lot of work into the annual financial report to make it comprehensive and easily understood, and this recognition rewards that effort. I’m proud of the work we do and look forward to continuing this level of dedication in the years to come.”

The CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
