(Kansas City, Mo.) – In 2016, KC Water treated more than 32 billion gallons of wastewater, sending it back to the Missouri River cleaner than when it was taken out. And last year, workers in the wastewater treatment division did the job without getting seriously hurt.
On Monday, January 16, 2017, the employees of KC Water’s Wastewater Treatment Division recorded 400 days without a lost time accident. That includes more than 100 staff, six wastewater treatment plants, 39 pump stations, and 14 flood stations.
“One of the values of KC Water is providing an excellent work environment that not only emphasizes safe work practices, but carries them out” said Terry Leeds, KC Water Director. “Safety is essential for both our employees and our customers. KC Water is committed to ensuring safety at every level of our Department.”
Speaking at an employee celebration, Troy Schulte, Kansas City, Missouri City Manager said, “It is my goal to make sure all of our employees go home in as good a condition or better condition than when they came to work in the morning so they can take care of families, be involved in the community and, most importantly, come back tomorrow and get the work done that needs to be done. I’m proud of the work this group has done.”
